Act 1
Act 1 was very exciting. At first, I thought Nora was a gold digger because she likes getting money from Helmer and certainly likes spending it immediately. However, as the story goes on, I've noticed she took her time saving that money for something special. I like how Helmer treats Nora because I think she acts childish. She is some what responsible, but clearly spends money immediately. "Has my little featherbrain been out wasting money again?" Helmer says to Nora. He clearly knows she is immature and calls her names. The only thing she tries to do is look ravishing for Helmer. I also think she is selfish. For example, her conversations with Mrs Linde, she mainly talked about herself.
The second half of Act 1 was very exciting as well. I was surprise on how Krogstad forged signatures on the check. It reminded me of Sasha Uskov from the other book we read earlier. He was persuading Nora to give him a good word for Helmer. Apparently to Nora, he was frivolous. I'm not surprise about Nora borrowing about 12 thousand dollars from Krogstad though. Korgstad is the evil character in the story now. He blackmailed her a few times as well about the forged signatures, the checks, and threatening to poison her children. I wonder what happens next since Helmer doesn't like Krogstad. "Didn't you say that no one had been here? My little songbird mustn't ever do that again" Helmer says to Nora as he finds out she is lying about Krogstad. Nora now has a lot of problems and I'm curious to see if she can overcome them. With Krogstad's blackmails she incredulously can't be with her children at times now. I can't wait to read Act 2 and find out more and how she'll overcome these problems.

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with what you said, I don't really understand why Nora deal's with being treaty like a child. I also agree that she is selfish and extremely conceded.
ReplyDeleteSo many comments. I was happy to see you relate the play to another piece of literature we read in class this year.
